November 11, 2016Shaun Makin joined Brighter Futures as, in his own words “I didn’t have any qualifications and didn’t have a job”. Brighter Futures not only looks to progress our learners into employment, we also help our learners be prepared for their working life by upskilling their Maths and English. Shaun joined Brighter Futures having achieved below grade C in his Maths and English GCSEs. As it is a Government aim for all young people to have these skills, Brighter Futures helped Shaun to work towards this level. During the course he completed a work placement and achieved his functional skills. He has now progressed to an Apprenticeship with Bigabyte Hardware Store
"Before I joined Brighter Futures I didn't have any qualifications and didn't have a job. I joined Brighter Futures and I managed to get my functional skills and got a apprenticeship. I attended a work placement at Bigabyte and my duties included answering phone calls, dealing with software issues and hardware repairs. From my placement I learnt how to fix mobile phones and repair laptops. Now I am going to complete and ICT repairs Apprenticeship at Bigabyte and cannot thank Brighter Futures enough"
