September 28, 2016Brighter Futures run a number of programmes in conjunction with large local employers such as Liverpool Football Club through their community project LFC Foundation and Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Jay Verburg joined our Liverpool John Lennon Airport programme and after completing his induction and work skills went on placement at the airport alongside 7 of his classmates. Jay showed a keen interest in the workings of the airport. Using skills learnt during his weeks in house, Jay approached his line manager and asked to complete his placement in Air Traffic Control. The experience he gained here put him in a great position to apply for a role as an ATC assistant. Jay was successful in his application and has now started an exciting career with the airport.
"Before I joined Brighter Futures I pretty much didn't do anything apart from go to the gym! I joined Brighter Futures and I attended a work placement at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. From my placement I learnt that as long as you work hard good things will come of it! I learnt new things such as people skills, confidence and patience. I had an interview for a vacancy based in the Air Traffic Control Tower and was successful. I started work at Liverpool John Lennon Airport as a Air Traffic Control Tower Assistant. I would like to thank Brighter Futures. The programme they ran was great and now it has lead me into a full time career."
